Statement

In recent years, the rise of internet aesthetics such as Liminal Space, and generative AI has altered notions of memory and existence in visual and image media. The boundary between 'presence' and 'absence' is rapidly becoming vague, when cyberspace is overflowing with images such as Generated images of non-existent people, nostalgia for an unknown country, and non-existent memories.

Music originally had an aesthetic that targeted fluctuations and reverberations that did not exist. This can be reverb applied to vocals, the guitar sounds stretched by delay, or fluctuations in pitch created by analog synthesizers. In this article, such aesthetics will be referred to in a single word as 'ambiance'.

The autumnal equinox is a day to remember the deceased. In this article, the traditional 'remembrance' will be deconstructed and reinterpreted as an act that paradoxically highlights the existence of those present by thinking about all the people and things that are not present. In doing so, we believe that 'ambiance' in music can be a good wand for understanding remembrance.
